It’s clear that WWE officials are building towards a huge rivalry between AJ Styles and Randy Orton over the WWE Championship. The only thing that is unclear is when Orton vs. Styles is expected to begin because WWE could be saving it for the biggest show of the summer.
The hot topic this week is Jinder Mahal becoming the No. 1 contender for the WWE Title shot at Backlash. AJ Styles will be challenging Kevin Owens for the United States Title at the pey-per-view as well. Both men will be tied up for at least the next month, but that is all part of the plan.
It’s being reported by CageSideSeats that WWE officials are still planning for Orton vs. Styles to be a huge feud for SmackDown over the summer. Everything that is happening now with Jinder Mahal, AJ in the US Title hunt, and the rest is all just a holdover until their feud begins.
The WWE Universe is anxiously awaiting The Phenomenal One versus The Viper, but it seems the fans will need to wait a couple more months because WWE officials are likely saving their match for Summerslam. The rivalry will likely last for quite awhile. There’ll be plenty of time.
