You never know what to believe sometimes and with contradicting reports flying all over the place, sometimes it’s just the best idea to take in as much information you can and then process it. Apollo Crews recently experienced a name change, now the real question is why.

While some are saying the reason why Apollo Crew needed to change his name was that his surname shared too close of a likeness to Parkland Florida school shooter Nikolas Cruz, it looks like there could be more to that story. Because WWE is now apparently claiming that they never sent out a public relations email informing anyone of the reason for this name change.

Now reports are saying WWE simply changed the name because it was handed down from Vince McMahon to do so. Therefore, there could be no fire to the smoke. But you never know what could be the real reasoning behind things.

After all, actor Terry Crews has also thrown out his own reasoning for Apollo changing his name and it had a lot more to do with the fact that it was already taken than it was similar to the name of someone who committed atrocious acts.

As more information comes out on the matter we will keep you updated as always. But for now, it might be best to just assume that Vince McMahon was just in another mood to switch up the last name like he has done many times before to guys like Elias who also lost a nickname in the process as well.

If anything, WWE might have just been wanting to put a stop to Apollo’s newest “Crews can’t lose” catchphrase. But regardless of the actual reason, the fact of the matter is that WWE has one more name to switch up in advertisements and merchandise.
