mickey gall

Saturday night UFC 203 took place from the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, OH and CM Punk lost his first fight in the UFC to Mickey Gall. As soon as the fight started Punk came out swinging, and missed Mickey with his first punch which allowed Mickey to take advantage and take Punk to the ground.

Sunday night at WWE Backlash The Miz defended his Intercontinental Championship against Dolph Ziggler at Backlash and Miz successfully retained the belt. At the beginning of the match Miz and Ziggler spoofed the beginning of Punk’s fight from UFC 203. Miz went right after Ziggler and missed a punch, which allowed Ziggler to take him down like Gall took down Punk.

TMZ recently spoke to Punk’s opponent Mickey Gall and they asked him what he thought of his fight being spoofed by WWE, and he said it was an honor.

“That’s cool man. It’s an honor. I think it’s not so much me, but their feelings against him, so I guess that’s kinda crappy. But you know, hey I love it. It’s cool man, whatever.”

You can check out the clip which also features a side by side comparison of both matches below.

  1. And THAT is why Punk should NEVER go back to WWE. They will NEVER let him forget about this. That’s the way the McMahon’s are. They’re petty like that. They cant stand to see anyone that used to work for them acheive any kind of success elsewhere and they go out of their way to mock and ridicule former talent whenever they fail elsewhere. Case in point, Punk losing his first UFC match. Well, ya know who else lost their first UFC match? Brock Lesnar! But you’ll NEVER hear WWE acknowledge that, because apparently Brock can do absolutely no wrong in WWE’s eyes. And that’s just messed up right there. Oh well.

    • Why do people keep trying to compare Punk to Lesnar? Lesnar has a history of competitive wrestling. He was an actual NCAA Heavyweight Division 1 champion. Punk has never even competed in an actual fight of any kind before UFC 203(besides sparring matches). Also, Lesnar was 29 when he first started in MMA. He also won his very first match, which took place in Hero’s against Min-Soo Kim. Min-Soo Kim was an even more seasoned fighter than Gall, at the time. Punk started training at 35 and finally fought his first match at 37, which he lost without ever even scoring a single point.

You cannot compare the two… so just stop.
