NXT General Manager William Regal made a special announcement during EVOLVE 56 in New York City on Saturday night. He announced that WWE would be taping qualifying matches for the Global Cruiserweight Series during the event.
William Regal also participated in a meet and greet before the event.

The Global Cruiserweight Series is set to kickoff on the WWE Network in July. When WWE made the announcement about the tournament Triple H noted that the majority of the talents that compete will not be WWE contracted wrestlers.
