It seems that there are a few WWE Superstars who are looking to part ways with the company, and one of those Superstars is none other than former Intercontinental Champion Luke Harper.

Harper recently publicly announced that he has requested to be released from his WWE contract, but it doesn’t look like WWE will be granting his request.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that Harper is not going to be released, and WWE is adding six months to his contract because he had to take time off due to a wrist injury.

Originally his contract was set to end in November, but WWE plans to keep him until just before WrestleMania in 2020.

It’s been speculated that WWE is using these tactics to try and dissuade other wrestlers from publicly announcing that they’ve requested their release.

Harper’s statement on his release request can be read below.

“As of this evening, I have requested a release from WWE. The past 6 years have been a
simple, amazing journey around the world and back with lifelong friends and family. I am proud of it all and proud to say I shared the ring with my co workers.

The decision, as difficult as it was, feels right for myself and WWE. My goal in the future is to continue to grow as a performer and person and continue to make my family proud.

Thank you. From the top to the bottom of WWE. Thank you to the fans for your undying support. Thank you everyone.”
