Last year Vince McMahon retired from WWE after it was revealed that he paid millions of dollars in hush money payments to suppress allegations of sexual misconduct. Recently Vince returned to WWE with the intention of selling the company, and McMahon has also reached a settlement with one of his accusers.

The Wall Street Journal reports that Vince McMahon has agreed to a multimillion-dollar legal settlement with former WWE referee Rita Chatterton who accused McMahon of raping her in 1986. It was noted that the settlement was completed last month which will allow McMahon to avoid any legal issues tied to Chatterton as he makes moves to sell WWE.

The WSJ viewed a letter that was sent to Vince McMahon’s attorney back in November which showed that Rita Chatterton was demanding $11.75 million dollars. However, Chatterton reportedly agreed to take a lesser amount and the final amount is unknown.

Mr. McMahon’s lawyer Jerry McDevitt commented on the situation and said, “Mr. McMahon denies and always has denied raping Ms. Chatterton. And he settled the case solely to avoid the cost of litigation.”

The settlement will reportedly provide Rita Chatterton with a lump sum up front as well as annual installments according to people familiar with the deal.
