CM Punk is always a hot topic in the world of professional wrestling and the former AEW World Champion recently made his return to the ring earlier this month. One of the things that people talk about the most when it comes to CM Punk is his mic skills as you never know what Punk might say when he has a microphone in his hands.

Punk cut a number of memorable promos during his time with WWE, but it sounds like one of them created a lot of concern for Vince McMahon. During a recent appearance on Sportskeeda’s WrestleBinge, WWE Hall of Famer Sgt. Slaughter recalled his time working backstage in WWE and he claimed that CM Punk is one of the reasons why Vince McMahon decided to start scripting promos.

“I was told that CM Punk was using the F-bomb on live television, and Vince got a little upset about that. He just said, ‘That’s it, no more ad-libbing. We’re gonna script everything so I know what people are saying. I’m gonna lose my sponsors and my TV shows if I don’t.’ So the business went a different direction.”

After Triple H took over WWE creative last year it was reported that the company was loosening up on the idea of scripted promos, and it seems that at least some stars have been given a little more freedom. As for CM Punk, he’s still saying what he wants, when he wants in AEW.
