The Rock returned during Friday Night SmackDown last week and he seemingly set up a match with Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40. However, that idea has received some backlash from fans who were hoping to see Cody Rhodes get his rematch with Roman Reigns on the Grandest Stage of Them All.

PWInsider is reporting that multiple sources have noted The Rock is 100% performing in the ring at WrestleMania 40 in April. It’s being said that the deal is done and was likely contractually locked in as part of The Rock’s deal when he joined the TKO Board of Directors.

As of right now the belief is that there is “no scenario” where The Rock isn’t wrestling Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40 unless something unforeseen like an injury happens.

The plan was never for The Rock to turn heel, or for it to look like he was maliciously taking Cody’s spot at WrestleMania. Several people have pointed out that WWE can adjust their plan week to week in order to make things make sense. The idea is that now that the shock has worn off from The Rock’s return creative can build everyone to look as strong as possible during WrestleMania season.
