roman reigns

Kurt Angle is now a WWE Hall of Famer, and he’s also the General Manager of Monday Night Raw. Angle is in charge of the WWE Raw roster, which means he’s also in charge of Roman Reigns.

Roman Reigns is one of the top stars in WWE, but he usually gets a mixed reaction from the fans. Raw General Manager Kurt Angle recently spoke to Washington’s Top News, and he noted that he thinks WWE pushed Roman way too fast.

“I love him,” Angle said. “The issue with Roman is he was utilized and pushed way too fast. When you skip the U.S. Title, Intercontinental Title, the King of the Ring and go right to the top, fans don’t like that. … Half the fans love him; half the fans hate him. Same with [John] Cena. When Cena came in, Vince pushed the hell out of him and fans were like, ‘Gosh, dang. This guy’s invincible. I hate him!’ … If Vince waits it out a bit, fans will start to accept [Roman Reigns], and if they don’t, then turn him heel.”

Many fans have been hoping to Roman Reigns to turn heel in the near future, but due to the amount of merchandise he sells, it seems unlikely that WWE will turn him.

Kurt Angle started off his career as a heel, and he admitted that he didn’t think the fans were going to boo him because he won an Olympic gold medal.

“What [Vince] saw in me was, ‘Gosh, this is a real American hero. He would be perfect in the ’80s, and that’s exactly why he’s going to be hated today. … I tried it with The Rock and it blew up in my face, so I’m gonna try it again with Angle, except this time … he’s gonna be a heel. … My top babyface [Austin] flips off his boss, drinks beer and stuns everyone. He knew the anti-hero was the babyface of the Attitude Era, and the real hero would make people sick to their stomach because he’s so perfect. I disagreed with him. I told him, ‘It’s not gonna work, I won a gold medal [with] a broken freakin’ neck! People are gonna love me!’ He said, ‘No, they’re gonna hate your guts.’ He was right.”
