Earlier today WWE announced that Ryback is officially done with the company and it looks like WWE has let go of a former announcer as well.

Pro Wrestling Sheet is reporting that WWE has released Joey Styles, but there’s no word on why he was released at this time

Styles recently participated in a Facebook Q & A video where he spoke openly about not liking the name of the Universal Championship and the three man commentary booth.

During the Q & A a fan asked Styles why WWE has been pushing Roman Reigns as a babyface and he said the following:

“Bottom line is, if our chairman thinks he sees a future star as a babyface, that’s how things are gonna play out,” Styles said via Uproxx. “But the answer is Vince thinks it can work. He’s been right much, much, much, much, much more than wrong over the course of the last 40 years. I’m sorry, but I’m not gonna second-guess the chairman.”

No word on if the Q & A video had anything to do with Joey’s release, but it’s worth noting that WWE has since removed the video from Facebook and their YouTube channel.

Joey Styles joined WWE as a commentator in 2005 and then took a job working behind the scenes for WWE’s website in 2008 before he was promoted to Vice President of Digital Media Content.
