In October of 2019 AEW Dynamite officially debuted on TNT, and the show had been going head to head with NXT on Wednesday nights up until this week. For the vast majority of the Wednesday Night Wars AEW came out ahead in the ratings, but now circumstances are different.

Chris Jericho recently spoke to Forbes about NXT switching nights, and he noted that AEW wasn’t overly concerned with what NXT was doing.

“We’ve never really worried about what NXT was doing. I know WWE NXT was watching our stuff during their show, but this was not a war that we were ever asking for. We were kind of thrust into it by proxy.

“The reason why we won it and won it so handily is we never worried about what anybody else was doing. We just worried about our own show. Of course we’re competitive. Yes, we wanted to beat NXT. We wanted to drive them screaming and yelling away from Wednesdays and we did that.”

Chris Jericho will be in action tonight on AEW Dynamite when he faces Dax Harwood in a singles match that will feature Mike Tyson as a special enforcer. Stay tuned for updates.
