Vince McMahon has been steering the ship for WWE for decades now, but he officially retired on Friday, and on Monday it was announced that Triple H is now in charge of creative.

Fightful Select reports that people in creative said that the writer’s assistants had to “filter” Vince McMahon at times. It’s being said that assistants often had to know what not to write while taking notes for Vince McMahon, and sources also said, “minutes are heavily edited.”

This had reportedly been the case for a long time with Vince saying things that were insensitive, offensive, and things that would create “oh god, what did he just say?” moments. McMahon also referred to people by the wrong names and used socially unacceptable terms that he himself wouldn’t allow on TV.

While talking about Vince McMahon’s behavior while working TV tapings a former production employee said, “if a live feed of Vince McMahon on a headset any given night ever made it out, that it would provide a picture of that production experience, especially for the announcers. There were plenty of times he was in a good mood, but he would blow up at the most ridiculous things and act like they ruined an angle that was far past its expiration date anyway.”

Those close to the situation were asked what could change with Triple H taking over creative and they noted that they expect more recall of what the company has and hasn’t done. It was also noted that there were certain things Vince McMahon insisted on doing over and over, and they were pretty sure he didn’t remember doing them even though it was pointed out to him.
