In recent months All Elite Wrestling has been parting ways with talents as the company has let several contracts expire, and it looks like Colt Cabana was almost cut.
Fightful Select reports that as far back as March there was talk among talent that there was an internal uproar over the idea of AEW not renewing Colt Cabana’s contract. Many people on the roster assumed that Cabana’s deal not being renewed was due to his contentious relationship with CM Punk.
However, those assumptions changed in the months that followed due to the lack of focus on Dark Order, and the fact that AEW let Alan Angels and Stu Grayson go.
Several months ago numerous AEW talents caught word that Cabana’s deal was not being renewed. It’s being said that Cabana is an extremely popular person backstage, and once word got out about his contract status a number of talents went to bat for Cabana.
Sources indicated that Colt Cabana hasn’t been booked to compete in some time, and he is almost never at AEW TV. Cabana is still on the AEW roster page, and as of mid-April most believe that he was re-signed as part of ROH.
