There have been a number of shocking departures throughout the year and it was reported earlier this week that Sheamus is finishing up with WWE. The Celtic Warrior was approached to sign a restructured contract extension, and he swiftly declined.
Sheamus had been with WWE for over twenty years and held numerous titles including the WWE Championship, World Heavyweight Championship, United States Championship and Tag Team Championship. He was also a former Royal Rumble winner, Money in the Bank winner and King of the Ring winner.
WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select is reporting that an unnamed high level member of the WWE office went to TKO and “went to bat” for Sheamus. That one individual reportedly dove into the value that Sheamus brings to WWE which stretched beyond his in-ring contributions.
Regarding a potential jump to All Elite Wrestling, a source close to Sheamus believes he would welcome the idea of working with the company, even on a short term basis if the right opportunity presents itself.
