CM Punk made his big return during this week’s episode of WWE Raw in Chicago when he replaced Cody Rhodes in the main event after Cody was attacked by Gunther at the beginning of the show. The Second City Saint then went on to defeat Sami Zayn to become the new Undisputed WWE Champion. Punk’s big win got a lot of talking and it doesn’t look like he’ll be dropping the title anytime soon.

WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select is reporting that the plan moving forward is for CM Punk to be primarily featured on Friday Night SmackDown with occasional appearances on Monday Night Raw as needed.

Sources at NBCUniversal noted that USA Network has been pushing for more Punk appearances on SmackDown for well over a year. It’s being said that they see him as one of WWE’s premier stars.

One source reportedly feels that CM Punk being on the blue brand could help SmackDown pick up the momentum that has dipped for the show in recent months. As of this writing Punk has yet to wrestle a match on SmackDown since he returned to WWE in November of 2023.

It was also noted that a source within WWE creative believes that there are no indications Punk’s current Undisputed WWE Championship reign is going to be short-term.
