Shawn Michaels has been the WWE NXT and Senior Vice President of Talent Development and Creative since 2021, but it looks like a big shakeup is coming in 2027.
It was recently reported that Bruce Prichard is expected to retire from his role as Executive Director – Creative Writing & Talent (CWT) following WrestleMania 43, and Shawn Michaels will be taking over once Prichard steps down.
Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer is reporting that with Shawn Michaels replacing Bruce Prichard on the WWE main roster, AJ Styles taking over Shawn’s role in NXT is the most likely scenario. Bayley and CM Punk are other names who could potentially take on a bigger role with NXT as well.
Alvarez wrote, “As of right now, it looks like Shawn Michaels replacing Bruce Prichard and AJ Styles getting his NXT role is the most likely scenario. It is believed there will be other NXT office changes in 2027 as well. Depending on what she wants to do with her career, Bayley could very well end up involved. Punk may also have more input. It is also believed the ID program will get “a fresh coat of paint” in early 2027 as well.”
CM Punk has expressed a lot of interest when it comes to helping develop younger talent, and Bayley has also been helping younger talent over the last year or so with her Lodestone women’s wrestling camps.
Stay tuned for updates.
