WWE Hall of Famer Ron Simmons recently spoke with ABC 2 about his career, factions in wrestling and more. Here are the highlights from the interview:

On factions in wrestling:

“A faction’s success in professional wrestling can be judged on how many stars off shoot it. Look who was in that group. There was the Rock, and [current WWE wrester] Mark Henry among others. I would call that pretty successful.”

His induction into the WWE Hall of Fame:

“This business has been so good to me and being inducted into the Hall of Fame ranks right at the top. I’m so thankful to be considered among the all-time greats along with guys like Ric Flair, Arn Anderson, Bruno Samartino and Dusty Rhodes who I grew up wanting to emulate. I’ve been so fortunate.”

Defeating Vader and becoming first African-American world champion:

“That feeling on that night was so special and the way the fans celebrated with me is something that I will always remember. Being able to share that historic moment with the fans that supported me through everything meant more than you’ll ever know.”
