survivor series

In a surprising turn of events, it seems that the match of the night at this year’s Survivor Series could easily have been the bout between AJ Styles and Brock Lesnar. The Phenomenal One has become well-known for bringing out the best in his opponents in the two years that he has been in WWE, but he could have taken a little bit more than he expected out of The Beast.

Last night’s match was the first time in a number of years that Lesnar has been forced to actually wrestle rather than being part of a squash match and it seems that AJ pushed him to the limit.

Mid-way through the match, Brock was about to catch AJ in mid-air when the duo fell backwards and were luckily saved by the ropes, but the WWE Universe had already realised that this was a Botchamania moment. Brock had been catching Styles throughout the match without a problem, but it seems that in that moment his knee just buckled. The duo then botched a move in the corner a few minutes later, which has fans worried that Lesnar legitimately injured himself.

It looked as if Brock may have injured his knee when he caught AJ, and Styles later went on to lock in the calf crusher which would have only made matters worse for The Beast. It seems that AJ worked Lesnar’s legs for most of the match in the hope that he could chop the big man down, and after the match Brock was seen limping.

It’s worth noting that on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer reported that Brock Lesnar was only selling.

“Brock was even selling it backstage,” Meltzer said. “I had people going like, ‘He’s really hurt.’ Which he wasn’t. But he wanted everyone to think he was.”

Luckily for Lesnar, Monday Night Raw doesn’t have another pay-per-view until the Royal Rumble, in more than two months, which means that he has enough time to rest up and return to the company at one hundred percent ahead of WrestleMania season.
