This week on Raw, John Cena had a match with Braun Strowman that ended in a DQ. There is no question that the purpose was to give Strowman a boost for his upcoming match with Brock Lesnar, but it left the WWE Universe with some questions about John Cena’s booking.
Since Cena’s return to WWE television back in July, he’s been featured in some big matches with Shinsuke Nakamura and others on Raw and SmackDown Live. A lot of people have been critical of WWE officials giving away big matches like that on free television instead of on PPV.
The biggest example is the match between John Cena and Roman Reigns for No Mercy later this month. It’s being reported by IWNerd that WWE officials are having these big matches so quickly because they don’t know what the future will hold for John Cena’s wrestling career.
There has been speculation about John Cena leaving WWE for Hollywood before, but he was not being featured in Transformers movies or being talked about for possible roles in the DC Extended Universe. WWE officials just want to utilize Cena as much as possible while he’s available.
