When Alberto El Patron was stripped of his Global Force Wrestling World Heavyweight Championship a lot of people were wondering what would happen next. GFW was at a crossroads of sorts and they needed to figure something out.

They were gearing up to tape twelve weeks worth of television shows and needed a champion to head toward their Bound For Glory pay-per-view. The tapings got off to a huge bang when none other than should-be WWE Hall Of Famer Jim Cornette showed up and fired Bruce Prichard.

Bruce was just going to hand the GFW World Heavyweight Championship over to Bobby Lashley. However, Jim Cornette had other plans. Corney said championships need to be earned in the new GFW and that’s exactly what happened.

A 20-man gauntlet tournament was booked to determine a new champion and reports from the show are that it was a great main event.

The crowd was on the edge of their seats and excited to see what would happen next. In a change of pace from the usual shenanigans pro wrestling fans have come to expect this type of contest, the gauntlet match had a definite winner.

In the end, it came down to Eddie Edwards and Eli Drake. After an intense gauntlet match, the audience in attendance was more than pumped to have witnessed such a thrilling ending to the contest.

Much to the delight of the fans in the Impact Zone, Eli Drake pulled out the win after hitting the Gravy Train. So if you were wondering who GFW is going to go with as their next World Champion then now you have your answer.
