Daniel Bryan kicked off this week’s episode of SmackDown Live and he said that the Road to WrestleMania is full of twists and turns. He then asked SmackDown Women’s Champion Naomi to come down to the ring.
Naomi was wearing a knee brace and she was walking with a limp. As she got in the ring the crowd chanted “you deserve it” and Daniel Bryan agreed with the fans in attendance.
Daniel Bryan told the audience that Naomi scratched and clawed to get to the top of the women’s division and he said that he was about to do something that he really didn’t want to do. Bryan announced that he went over Naomi’s medical records with Shane McMahon, and they came to the conclusion that she won’t be able to defend her title within a 30 day time period. He then broke everyone’s heart when he told Naomi that she has to relinquish the title.
Naomi cut a heartfelt promo before giving the belt up and she told Daniel Bryan that she knows when she hands him the title that her WrestleMania spot is probably gone too.
She then handed Bryan the belt and wiped tears from her eyes before she embraced the SmackDown General Manager.
Naomi told the fans that when she comes back everyone is going to feel the glow.
Alexa Bliss then made her way down to the ring and she told Daniel Bryan she wants her title back. Bryan booked a Women’s Title match between Alexa Bliss and Becky Lynch to kick off the show. Stay tuned for updates.
