If you weren’t aware that The Miz got his start on MTV’s Real World then I’m rather surprised because he’s kept it no secret. The A-Lister might be down an IC Title thanks to Roman Reigns, but one thing The Big Dog can’t do is severe The Miz’ ties to MTV.

The Miz is returning to his first television home as the host of The Challenge: Champs vs Stars. Ironically he won’t be the only representative of WWE on this season because former WWE Diva Cameron will also be on the show.

But The Miz recently spoke to TV Insider where he opened up about why he’s hosting the physically demanding reality game show competition instead of competing himself seeing how he is a former winner of The Challenge back in 2002.

“There was a long time where every year I would get invited to do The Challenge, and I kept telling them that I’m retired. I’m retired, I’m retired. I’ve done a couple of the reunion shows. So, they kind of saw my hosting abilities. Then they were like, ‘There is nobody more perfect to host this show than you. You are a WWE superstar as well as a Challenge vet.’ They felt I could relate to both sides of the spectrum. I saw it as a huge compliment. When they offered it to me, it felt so cool to be back. The Challenge is really where The Miz got to open up, and we got to see the character kind of blossom into what he is today.”

While he was on the subject of why he’s not competing on the show he opened up about what it was like being on the opposite side of the camera this time around.

“When people found out at WWE like my friends and people in production that I would be on The Challenge Champs vs. Stars, they started asking me questions. This show has been going on for so long, I guess you don’t realize how many people really watch the show. Even with WWE, I don’t realize how many people watch the show. But man, everyone watches The Challenge. They are like, ‘Dude, it’s a guilty pleasure. I’ve been watching since I’ve been alive.’ So, it’s kind of funny how The Challenge has been able to change and evolve, but keep an audience and add more. To be a part of that is so cool and so fun.”
