Daniel Bryan is always a hot topic in the world of professional wrestling, as he’s made it very clear that he wants to return to the ring, and he’s teased that he may leave WWE when his contract expires if the company doesn’t clear him.

Bryan has been cleared by doctors who don’t work for WWE, but since it’s the WWE doctors who count, getting cleared hasn’t done him much good so far. Brie Bella recently got a lot of people talking when she appeared on Lilian Garcia’s podcast and said that WWE officials are now open to the idea of communicating with the doctors that Bryan has been meeting with.

“I think they are looking at it and I think that’s why he’s been really vocal lately. But I think they are willing to look at it, and see, what is it the other doctors are seeing.”

However, in the latest issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter it was once again reported that Bryan has not been cleared, and Vince McMahon won’t let him return until he gets the green light directly from Dr. Joseph Maroon who works for WWE.

There’s been a lot of speculation that Shane McMahon could be turning heel soon, but the storyline is not meant to build to a match with Daniel Bryan.

If Bryan is cleared by Joseph Maroon, everything could change, and it’s also being reported that there is talk of the former WWE World Heavyweight Champion possibly returning to the ring at SummerSlam and working a limited schedule, if he is cleared in the future.

Daniel Bryan returning to the ring after his WWE contract expires could be big for the independent wrestling scene. So it will be interesting to see how his situation progresses between now and the time that his contract is set to expire.
