Seth Rollins has been a big player in the tag team division on Raw ever since he won the Tag Team Titles with Dean Ambrose at SummerSlam a few months ago. Rollins and Ambrose have been trying to win back the Raw Tag Team Titles over the last few weeks, but their quest hit a major roadblock recently when Dean Ambrose underwent surgery to repair an injury.
Monday night on Raw, it was announced that Dean Ambrose could be out of action up to nine months, so General Manager Kurt Angle paired Seth Rollins up with his son Jason Jordan.
Kurt Angle announced that Seth Rollins and Jason Jordan would challenge Cesaro and Sheamus for the Tag Team Titles in the main event of Monday Night Raw, and to the surprise of fans around the world, Jordan and Rollins won the belts.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that WWE officials needed someone in the tag team title program, and it came down to Jason Jordan, or Finn Balor for Seth Rollins’ new tag team partner.
In the end WWE officials decided to go with Jason Jordan, which has slowed down Jordan’s heel turn as a result.
It will be interesting to see where things go from here, but it’s clear to see that Dean Ambrose’s injury has caused WWE officials to change creative plans in a major way.
