During last night’s WWE Fastlane pay-per-view, they played a promo video showcasing Austin Aries’ ring ability twice during the night. They actually aired one during the kick-off show, and the other later in the evening during the actual event. Before they threw to the second video package, Austin Aries said “Let’s take a look at my beautiful package.” Good one Austin. We know you were making a joke about your junk.

But, apparently there has been no heat on Aries due to this comment as evidenced by the fact WWE kept the line in and is currently replaying it as-is in current rotation. Overall, WWE Fastlane was a good pay-per-view if you didn’t pay attention to the finish of the Braun Strowman and Roman Reigns match and just skipped the main event entirely. But, one thing which remains consistent is how awesome Austin Aries is.

If he popped that line about his package off as a joke it might have been to encourage creative to take him off the commentary desk and put him back in the ring. He has to be ready for action again. After all, he’s had more than enough time to recover from the face smashing Shinsuke Nakamura’s knee caused him months ago. But at this point his voice has become such a great part of Raw and 205 Live, he will be missed in that role.

There is a reason why he’s called The Greatest Man That Ever Lived and he proves it every time he steps in the ring. His technical ability coupled with his proficient move-set makes him a great opponent to any person who he steps in the ring with. It’s just a shame they had to hype his eventual return this early with these promo packages to educate mainstream fans about his incredible ability when they really should have already known.

Reports are he made the main-roster jump when he took over the commentary position so he won’t be back in NXT, there were rumors of plans for him to take a run with NXT’s top belt but obviously that changed. Aries’ in-ring return will happen soon and when that occurs, it better mean something because it might also spell the loss of one of the best heel commentators on the current WWE product (along with Corey Graves and JBL).

Fun facts about Aries: his brainbuster and 450 Splash are amazing and he’s engaged to Thea Trinidad, the same girl who’s playing AJ Lee in “Fighting With My Family.” Hopefully Austin Aries finds himself with great success as the former ROH and TNA World Champion finally gets a chance to shine on a much bigger stage. As much as he’s cherished in the commentary booth, it’s just not the same as getting to see the 17-year-veteran do what he really does best.
