A few months ago news of a new edict in WWE banning third party platforms such as Twitch and Cameo started making the rounds, and the edict got a lot of people talking.

Former Presidential candidate Andrew Yang made his opinion on the issue very clear when he took to Twitter to state that he felt WWE’s classification of talents as independent contractors is ridiculous.

Yang later stated on Talk Is Jericho that he would be in a position to take action regarding what he believes to be a misclassification for WWE Superstars should Joe Biden win the election.

“If we win I’m going to be in a position where I can call up the Secretary of Labor, or in this case, it’s the National Labor Relations Board and then bring suit against the WWE and say, ‘hey I think you are misclassifying your employees here’ and the damages here would be really significant. That is more or less the plan. We may need to have some brave performer or ex-performer come forward, and say “here are the practices.”

WWE’s third party ban has now become a hot topic once again, as Zelina Vega was released from her WWE contract on Friday, and it was reported that Vega’s release may have been related to the fallout from the new edict. It’s also worth noting that shortly before her release was announced Vega tweeted, “I support unionization.”

When Vega’s release was brought to the attention of Andrew Yang, he responded by saying that he hasn’t forgotten about Vince McMahon.

One thing’s for sure, it will be interesting to see where the situation goes from here. It’s also interesting to note that Vince McMahon was not backstage at SmackDown last week, and it was later reported that his reasons for missing the show were related to the election.
