Earlier this month the first ever two night SummerSlam aired live from MetLife Stadium and John Cena defended his Undisputed WWE Championship against Cody Rhodes in the night 2 main event. The American Nightmare managed to defeat John Cena to win the belt for the second time in his career, and after the match came to an end Brock Lesnar returned and hit John Cena with the F5 as the show went off the air.
Judging from the ending of SummerSlam it seems that WWE is getting ready to set up another Cena vs. Lesnar match, but it won’t be happening at Clash in Paris as it was confirmed last week that John Cena will be facing Logan Paul at the event.
It was recently reported that WWE is planning a yet to be announced premium live event for September 20th to go up against AEW All Out. Details have not been confirmed, but it’s rumored that the PLE will be Bad Blood.
Dave Meltzer discussed plans for the show on Wrestling Observer Radio that John Cena vs. Brock Lesnar is likely to be the main event for the premium live event on September 20th.
“It can change, but the main event for this show is Brock Lesnar and John Cena, so it’s a big one. Which is why Brock’s not in Paris, is because of this. They wanted him for this show. Not the Paris show, and that’s where Logan Paul got the gig.”
Brock Lesnar and John Cena have faced off a number of times throughout the years, but they have not clashed in a one on one match since the Night of Champions premium live event in 2014. A few months later they clashed in a triple threat match which also featured Seth Rollins at the Royal Rumble in 2015.
