The stars of WWE are heading to Saudi Arabia for Crown Jewel this weekend and there’s been a lot of controversy surrounding the event in recent weeks. Due to the recent attacks in Saudi Arabia, WWE has been criticized for not moving the event to a different location, but nevertheless Crown Jewel is still scheduled for Riyadh, Saudi Arabia this weekend.
WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select is reporting that they’ve learned directly from a source that WWE is offering hazard pay for crew members who are traveling to Saudi Arabia for Crown Jewel this weekend.
It was noted that this type of incentive has not traditionally been offered for standard crew responsibilities. Several crew members have reportedly opted out of making the trip despite the fact that they’ve been offered extra money.
WrestleVotes spoke to two crew members who claimed that the pay hazard pay offer was $3,000. Hazard pay is defined as, “extra financial compensation given to employees who perform dangerous job duties or work involving severe physical hardship that cannot be fully eliminated by safety gear”
