A few weeks ago Goldberg stepped into the ring one last time when he challenged Gunther for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at Saturday Night’s Main Event in Atlanta, GA. Goldberg ended his career with a loss as it was Gunther who picked up the victory, and it sounds like the WWE Hall of Famer suffered an unfortunate injury during the match.
Recently on the CarCast podcast Goldberg opened up about how he’s feeling following his big retirement match with The Ring General, and he revealed that he broke his hand at some point during the title bout.
“Oh yeah, yeah (I feel good physically following the retirement match). You can’t really tell but, my hand, I broke my hand, at some point in that match and I think today’s the first day I can see veins back in my hand. It’s not nearly as swollen as it was. That and… shoulder didn’t hurt, neck didn’t hurt. My knee isn’t worse.”
Goldberg also praised Gunther when he added, “All I hear is people complaining about me complaining and not many have reached the fact that it was the second-longest match I ever did in my life at 58 years old. Now, I could not have done it without GUNTHER. That kid is unbelievable. I mean, it was a wonderful opportunity to be in the ring with him, and an honor, and I couldn’t have done it without him. Your limitations are yourself and your dance partner, and he made it happen so, it was awesome. I had a good time.”
After his match with Gunther, Goldberg started to give a speech which was cut from the live feed on NBC and Peacock. During a recent appearance on the Ariel Helwani Show, Goldberg was outspoken about his speech getting cut off and he indicated during CarCast that he will be saying more about the situation in about a week.
