Last month Stephanie McMahon announced that she would be taking a leave of absence from WWE and stepping down from her role as Chief Brand Officer. This week the course of WWE took a shocking turn when it was revealed that Vince McMahon is being investigated by the WWE board, and now Stephanie MccMahon has been appointed interim Chairwoman and CEO of the company.

Following the big announcement Stephanie McMahon took to Twitter to issue the following statement regarding her new role:

“Until the conclusion of the investigation into recent allegations, I am honored to assume the role of interim Chairwoman & CEO. I love @WWE and all it continues to do to entertain billions around the world.”

WWE issued a press release announcing that Vince McMahon is temporarily stepping down from his role as Chairman of the Board and CEO of WWE while the board conducts their investigation. In the meantime Vince McMahon will retain his role as part of WWE creative.

Earlier this week it was revealed that the WWE board was investigating a $3 million dollar settlement that was paid to a former employee Vince McMahon allegedly had an affair with. The board also reportedly found other non-disclosure agreements and claims of misconduct involving Vince McMahon and John Laurinaitis.
