Impact Wrestling is returning to the Impact Zone in Orlando, FL for another set of tapings, and it’s rumored that a former WWE star could be joining the company. At the Impact Wrestling tapings on Thursday, Jeremy Borash told the fans that Friday night a wrestler who had not been seen since Victory Road 05 (most fans are assuming he meant Victory Road 04 as there was no Victory Road in 05) will be in the Impact Zone.

It’s believed that the person Jeremy Borash was referencing is none other than Matt Sydal, also known to WWE fans as Evan Bourne. Sydal did compete at Victory Road in 2004 as he was part of an X-Division Gauntlet Match, and it’s been rumored that Impact Wrestling is interested in working with him.

Matt Sydal returned to action earlier this month at a ROH event, and it’s worth noting that he recently started following Impact Wrestling on Twitter.

Matt Sydal made his debut as Evan Bourne on WWE’s ECW brand back in 2008 and he quickly became a fan favorite. During his run with the company he was able to capture the WWE Tag Team Championship one time with Kofi Kingston, and he’s also a former Slammy Award winner. Since his WWE release in 2014, Sydal has worked with ROH, NJPW and various other independent promotions.

  1. loved to watch evan bourne back in his wwe days, up until he busted up his foot and ankle in a motorcycle accident. Missing like 4 or 5 months then being released didnt do his career any good. Nice to see he is back, even if it is with another brand.
