royal rumble

The Greatest Royal Rumble rubbed some fans the wrong way but apparently, there was a spot in the show that really angered the Saudi Arabian audiences in a very bad way as well. They played a promo for Backlash during the show and when Carmella appeared on screen in her usual ring attire people threw a fit as someone tossed her a bottle of water on the screen.

The Saudi Arabian Sports Authority has since distanced themselves from the promo entirely saying that it was indecent and not approved.

The women had to stay at home and weren’t allowed to travel to Saudi Arabia and reports are Sami Zayn wasn’t permitted to come either because of his Syrian roots. But now it looks like the Saudi SA still wasn’t happy about the show.

In a Twitter message transcribed from Arabic, they came down on the accident while further discussing how WWE had agreed to abide by their rules which were broken. It looks like they will do everything they can to keep this from happening again though.

“The General Sport Authority would like to apologize to the viewers and attendees of last night’s WWE event that took place in Jeddah, over the indecent scene involving women that appeared as an ad before a segment. It would like to confirm it’s total disapproval of this, in the shadow of its commitment to eliminate anything that goes against the communities values.

The authority has made sure to ban showing of any segment that involves women wrestling or any scenes related to it, and stipulated that to the company (WWE). The authority also disapproved any promotional stuff with pictures or videos showing women in an indecent way, and emphasized on a commitment to this rule. And it’s a commitment that the authority would still commit to forever in all of it’s events and programs.”
