Last month WWE released a number of talents, and it was also revealed that the company decided not to sign Sonya Deville to a new contract. Following her departure from WWE, Sonya Deville (real name Daria Berenato) recently indicated that she’s unsure what the future holds for her in-ring career.
Even though an in-ring return doesn’t seem to be a certainty at the moment, the former WWE star is set to make a wrestling related appearance in April as she’s currently being advertised for WrestleCon in Las Vegas at the Westgate Las Vegas Resort and Casino. It’s worth noting that she is being advertised as Daria Rae, which appears to be the name that she’ll be using moving forward.
After parting ways with WWE the former Sonya Deville appeared on the Ariel Helwani Show and admitted that she was surprised when she found out her contract wouldn’t be renewed as she had been negotiating a new deal with WWE.
“I was completely under the impression that it was going well and we would sign something. And then… I got a phone call from the powers that be and they were like, ‘Hey, we’re going to go our separate ways.’
I was kind of surprised, I’m not gonna lie. I was like, is there a reason? And they were like, no, creatively it just hasn’t worked out and we’re going to go our separate ways.
I did not expect that. I was kind of just like, ok. This is the end of a chapter. It’s the end of an era. It was a decade long. I’m so grateful for it.”
