The last few weeks have been exciting as the WWE stars who were released in September of 2023 recently became free agents. Dolph Ziggler popped up at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom on Thursday, and it doesn’t look like he’ll be the only former WWE star who ends up working with NJPW.

During Friday’s New Year Dash event in Tokyo, Tanahashi successfully defended the NJPW TV Title against Ryusuke Taguchi. As Tanahashi was making his exit a video aired which showed Matt Riddle getting out of a car. Riddle then issued a challenge to Hiroshi Tanahashi.

After the video aired Tanahashi got on the mic and accepted the challenge. The commentator translated his promo which apparently said, “I will have to do some research as I have no idea who that is.”
