During this week’s episode of NXT a big change was made to the Deadline card as Wes Lee announced that he wouldn’t be competing at the show due to injury. Originally Wes Lee was set to challenge Dominik Mysterio for the NXT North American Champion, but it’s not clear when Wes will be able to return to in-ring action.
It was announced that Dragon Lee would be challenging Dominik Mysterio for the NXT North American Championship at Deadline, and it was also revealed that Rey Mysterio would be watching Dragon Lee’s back at ringside.
Both men pulled out all the stops during the title match while Rey Mysterio watched from the commentary table. It seemed that Dominik was closing in on the victory when he went for the 619, but Dragon Lee dodged it.
Dragon Lee went for a sit-out powerbomb for a near fall. Both men got back up then Dragon Lee hit Dominik with his Up And Over finisher to win the match and the NXT North American Championship.
After the match Dragon Lee celebrated with Rey Mysterio at the commentary table.
