Roman Reigns is without a doubt one of the most polarizing figures in WWE. Some fans love him, while others hate him, and Roman has been getting a mixed reaction in most cities he performs in over the past few years.
The mixed reaction has caused a lot of fans to call for a Roman Reigns heel turn, but it doesn’t sound like he’s going to be switching over to the dark side anytime soon. Roman Reigns recently spoke to the Cheap Heat Podcast, and he noted that he prefers the mixed reaction, as opposed to the chorus of boos he would likely receive if he turned heel.
“I mean, when you win and you’re whooping a lot of ass, you’re not that angry. Do you know what I mean? Like, I’ve been successful and whatever we’ve been doing, it seems to be working and it seems to continue to have loud reactions and nobody has been to more [professional] wrestling shows than me and the other guys on the roster.” Reigns added via Wrestling Inc, “I understand reactions and that’s one thing that you can be as informed within the [professional] wrestling community and the internet as you want, but there’s one thing that I know and that’s listening to what kind of reactions are happening. ‘Who’s in the crowd? Are they kids? Are they women? Are they men? Are they men my age? Are they men older than me? Are they men younger than me?’ So there are a lot of different things that are happening there. The one thing I like about my situation and if I think I were to commit to one, ‘I’m a bad guy now – I’m pissed and I’m going to try to take everybody out’ then it’s only one, like, ‘boo’. Do you know what I mean? But when I’m out there, there’s all kinds of noise. There [are] all kinds of chants. It’s pandemonium, man. That’s how I like it.”
If you’re one of those people hoping to see Roman turn heel, then you probably don’t want to hold your breath at this point.
Roman Reigns will get a shot at championship gold on Sunday when he challenges Kevin Owens for the WWE Universal Championship at the Royal Rumble. The odds seem to be in Roman’s favor, as Kevin’s best friend Chris Jericho will be locked in a shark cage above the ring, and the title will be defended in a no disqualification match.
Of course he doesn’t want to turn heel, his merchandise sales would take a hit without all the little kids buying it. It would be best for his overall WWE career if he did turn heel though.
The people that don’t like Joe Anoaʻi are the jealous, immature little boys that secretly wish they were Roman Reigns, lol. No one cares what you think. The youth and women of this world is what matters. I think they showed that the other day when millions marched across this country in unity. You sound as if you have a problem that kids like Roman Reigns or make it sound like that’s a bad thing. Wrestlers LIVE to perform for kids. That’s why they do what they do. What, you think they do it for you? ROFL, think again. Don’t believe me? Ask ANYONE on the WWE roster. Joe Anoa’i happens to be a fantastic humanitarian, father and husband. Any boos he receives in the ring all come from silly males that make themselves look really, really stupid. Believe that.
I apologise if my light hearted comment offended you, that was not my intent, they were not an attack on Joe personally, he’s got no say in what he does for the WWE. I don’t even hate the character he portrays on screen, he just should never ever be in the position that he finds himself in. The face of the WWE should not be getting the continued response from fans that Roman had been getting the past 2 years, the face of the company should be loved by fans, it’s not his fault but the WWE’s fault for pushing him this much. The guy works for World Wrestling Entertainment but he is a very limited wrestler and very wooden and boring during his promo work, he is no John Cena or the Rock. The only time Roman was over with the fans was when he was in the Shield and had 2 more talented guys doing all the work in the ring and during the promos, he should only be used in short matches and short promos too, to protect him from his obvious faults. The WWE have to find a way to use him to his fullest potential and currently I feel that he is wasted in the spot he has. This is only my opinion, in which you couldn’t care less about, but I can’t give anyone else’s opinion, I won’t cheer for someone only because Vince wants me to, the guy has to impress me in the ring or on the mic, neither of which Roman has ever done.
I agree. It probably would be best for his character. Ironically I think if he just turned heel he would probably end up getting over as a face in no time.
I agree, he did his best work as a heel in the shield and turning heel did The Rock, Cena, Edge, Orton and others a lot of good in their early WWE careers and got them over hugely with the fans.

This could be a start for some character development. I mean this is the only aspect that Roman lacks
