WrestleMania is WWE’s biggest show of the year, and WrestleMania 42 featured the return of Paige who teamed with Brie Bella to win the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship on the Grandest Stage of Them All.
After Nikki Bella suffered an injury that sidelined her a few weeks before WrestleMania, speculation regarding a potential return for Paige immediately picked up among fans on social media.
During a live episode of the Nikki & Brie Show at Fanatics Fest, Paige talked about the events leading up to her return, and she also revealed her reaction to her return getting leaked before she appeared at the Show of Shows.
“It was definitely the timing, and everything was strange in the best way. It was the Monday before Mania, and I was like, well I’m gonna be in Vegas anyway because I’m gonna be doing my podcast and signings. So I didn’t think it’d look too strange if I’m around, but everyone was kinda guessing. Everyone was like, ‘Nikki’s hurt, the only person who could replace her is going to be Paige, right?’
So, they started to guess, and then the day of Mania, I was supposed to go to a signing, and at the last second, they pulled the signing, and it got me to go to Mania. I was like, well, that gives it away then because I had to cancel the signing. And also, we got so frustrated, you guys. Because it leaked the day before. Like, we can’t have surprises anymore?! It was the most frustrating thing ever, and we’re just like, well, we’ll just make the most of it.”
Paige has been a key figure in the WWE women’s tag team division alongside Brie Bella ever since they won the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship at WrestleMania. However, they dropped the belts to Lainey Reid & Fallon Henley of Fatal Influence at Saturday Night’s Main Event, so we’ll have to wait and see where things go from here for Paige & Brie Bella.
