WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event aired live from Madison Square Garden over the weekend and the show featured a big segment involving Roman Reigns and Jalen Brunson in the main event.

The Tribal Chief presented Brunson with a New York Knicks themed World Heavyweight Championship belt before they were confronted by Tyrese Haliburton and Seth Rollins. Ultimately Roman Reigns and Jalen Brunson got the upper hand and Roman held up the Larry O’Brien Championship trophy while Brunson held up the World Heavyweight Championship as the match went off the air.

While talking about the segment on Wrestling Observer Radio, Bryan Alvarez indicated that people in WWE were thrilled with the way things played out during the closing segment of Saturday Night’s Main Event.

“I can’t even explain how excited they were in WWE about the last 10 minutes of the show. It’s actually kind of embarrassing. They were so excited by that final segment. They’re all about getting on ESPN, the celebrities are here, AEW could never get celebrities like this. That is their thing. It’s the highlight of their world to be associated with this kind of thing.”

Alvarez went on to note that there are no plans for Jalen Brunson and Tyrese Haliburton to be involved with SummerSlam when he added, “The latest I heard is they’re not going to be involved in SummerSlam. It was just something to do for this night. But they wanted to get their ESPN coverage, and I’m sure they got a lot. I don’t know how much they got with the final of the World Cup. They were happy about it, let me tell you.”

Roman Reigns is currently set to defend his World Heavyweight Championship against Seth Rollins at SummerSlam which will air live from US Bank Stadium on Saturday, August 1st and Sunday, August 2nd. WWE has yet to announce which night will feature the Reigns vs. Rollins match.
