Former World Champion Expected To Return To WWE Following Release From TNA Wrestling

There have been a number of departures from TNA Wrestling in recent weeks as names like Steve Maclin and Tommy Dreamer have both parted ways with the promotion. Today it was revealed that Eric Young has been released and TNA Wrestling confirmed the release when the company issued the following statement:

“TNA Wrestling has come to terms on the release of Eric Young, effective immediately. EY has had a legendary TNA career, including twice as TNA World Champion. We wish him the best in his future endeavors.”

False Finish is also reporting that WWE sources have indicated that WWE is expected to have interest in bringing Eric Young back to the company following his departure from Total Nonstop Action.

Fightful Select is reporting that Eric Young requested to be released. He had long been working for TNA Wrestling without a contract, but recently signed a short term deal with the company.

Young has long had a good relationship with Triple H and WWE sources have said that the door is open for him to return. Eric Young previously requested his release from WWE after Vince McMahon returned to the company. WWE sources who spoke to Fightful said that they expect Young to go there, but details regarding his specific role are unknown.
