WrestleMania 42 continued on Sunday as night 2 aired live from Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. Roman Reigns punched his ticket to WrestleMania back in January when he won the men’s Royal Rumble match, and Reigns main evented WrestleMania for the 11th time when he stepped up to challenge CM Punk for the World Heavyweight Championship on the Grandest Stage of Them All.
After the bell rang Punk and Roman stood in the middle of the ring and talked trash to each other for a minute then they finally locked up. Punk managed to knock Roman down and he mocked The Tribal Chief by throwing a one up in his face.
They battled outside the ring and Roman threw Punk over the barricade. Punk took Roman out with a clothesline off the barricade then hopped onto the announce table and threw his one up again as Roman snuck up behind him and threw him onto the floor.
After some back and forth Punk connected with a running bulldog and tried for the GTS. Roman got out of it then threw Punk into the corner and connected with the Superman Punch for a two count.
Reigns called for a spear, but Punk caught him with the running knee in the corner, followed by another. Punk clotheslined Roman over the top rope then did a dive through the ropes to knock Roman onto the announce table. CM Punk set Roman up on the announce table then climbed to the top rope. Roman managed to get up before Punk could jump off the top and they battled on the apron. Reigns got Punk’s leg caught in the ropes and he hit Punk with the Superman Punch three times as Punk was hanging upside down.
The Tribal Chief then busted CM Punk open when he hit The Second City Saint with the steel ring steps. Roman cleared off the announce table then powerbombed Punk through it.
Roman threw Punk back in the ring then went for the spear, but Punk caught him and connected with the GTS for a two count. Punk picked Roman up for another GTS and Roman slipped out of it then countered with a spear. Punk kicked out at two.
The Tribal Chief looked stunned after Punk kicked out. Roman slammed Punk’s head into the mat repeatedly then called for the GTS. He put Punk on his shoulders and put his one up to the sky. As he tried for the GTS, Punk caught Roman’s leg then hit him with a kick for a two count.
CM Punk connected with the Superman Punch on Roman Reigns and Reigns kicked out again. Punk went to the front row and took an ula fala from a fan then put it around his neck. Punk tried to spear Roman, but Roman caught him with the guillotine. CM Punk got out of it and locked in the Anaconda Vice on the challenger. Roman fought his way out and locked in the guillotine again.
The Second City Saint got out of the hold and tried for the Sharpshooter. Reigns kicked him before he could lock it in. Roman briefly locked in the guillotine again before they both got up and hit a double clothesline.
They both talked trash to one another as they got up and exchanged strikes. Punk ripped the tape off his arms and threw it at Reigns. As the referee picked up the tape and turned around to throw it out of the ring Punk hit Roman with a low blow followed by a GTS. Roman kicked out at two.
CM Punk placed Roman on the announce table then went back to the top rope. Punk finally connected with the elbow drop as he put Roman Reigns through the announce table.
Punk brought Roman back in the ring and connected with the GTS again. Roman bounced off the rope and fell back on Punk’s shoulders. He went for another GTS, but Punk collapsed with Roman on his shoulders.
Roman Reigns got to his feet and hit the spear. He then connected with another spear to win the match and the World Heavyweight Championship.
