The WWE landscape has changed drastically over the last week as Drew McIntyre defeated Cody Rhodes to become the new Undisputed WWE Champion on the most recent episode of SmackDown. Drew’s big victory sent shockwaves throughout the wrestling community and it looks like the win also caused plans for WrestleMania to change.

Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that the title change was decided last Wednesday, and now the planned Cody vs. Roman match at WrestleMania 42 is probably not happening.

“This whole WrestleMania changed on Wednesday of last week when they made the decision to go with the McIntyre title win. That wasn’t decided until Wednesday. I don’t know what the new matches are, although they may be doing a three-way with McIntyre, Jacob Fatu, and Cody Rhodes. That may not necessarily be at Mania, and that’s not even 100 per cent, but I was told that’s kind of like a possibility.

But the Cody Rhodes-Roman Reigns thing is probably not happening. Whatever it is, the Mania plans were changed on Wednesday when they made the decision to change the championship.”

Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns last crossed paths at Survivor Series when they teamed up for WarGames. Following the main event another Roman vs. Cody match was seemingly teased when Roman told The American Nightmare that would be the last time they team up.

WWE has shaken things up in a major way when it comes to the title picture, so it will be interesting to see how things play out for Drew McIntyre, Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns on the road to WrestleMania 42.
