For months now fans have been expecting to see Big Show face NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal at WrestleMania 33 on April 2nd, but it just doesn’t look like the match is going to happen. Big Show has been training hard for months now, and he seems to be in the best shape of his career, however, Shaq didn’t seem to take the WrestleMania match nearly as seriously as Show did.
Big Show taunted Shaq on social media several times, but up until a few weeks ago, Shaq stayed quiet. Both sides have been pointing the finger at each other in regards to why the match isn’t happening. According to Shaq, it’s not his fault, but according to Big Show, WWE and Shaq couldn’t reach an agreement that made Shaq happy.
In any case, although we won’t be seeing a face off between Shaq and Big Show at WrestleMania 33, Big Show is still set to compete in the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal.
Big Show is no stranger to the annual battle royal match, as he won the second Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania 31.
Show will have a chance to become the first ever two time Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal winner on Sunday, but unfortunately the match will be the last time he performs at WrestleMania.
The former WWE World Champion confirmed weeks ago that his WWE contract expires in 2018, and he appeared on the Jim Norton and Sam Roberts show on Friday on Sirius XM and he confirmed that WrestleMania 33 will be his last WrestleMania match.
This is certainly a shame as Big Show is a one of a kind performer who still has yet to really have a defining WrestleMania moment. It’s clear that Show wanted to end his WrestleMania career on a high note, and it just doesn’t seem right that he’ll be ending it with another appearance in the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal on the WrestleMania 33 kickoff show.
Do you think Big Show deserves better? What match would you book him in at WrestleMania 33? Sound off in the comments below.
Unfortunately they are going to let Braun win the battle royal. I’d personally rather see Show face Braun 1 on 1 at the ultimate thrill rise. Their match on raw several weeks ago was very good. It’s sad to see such a perfect “company guy” (he’s done everything they’ve asked of him) go out with a “loss” on the kick off show of WM33.
