Earlier this month Roman Reigns defended the Undisputed WWE Championship against Cody Rhodes in the night two main event of WrestleMania 40, and the title match featured some big cameos.

At one point during the match The Shield’s music hit and a number of fans on social media noted how they were hoping to see Jon Moxley make his way down to the ring despite the fact that he’s currently signed to AEW. However, it was Seth Rollins who put The Shield gear on once again as he tried to help Cody Rhodes on his path to victory.

Following the show Jon Moxley was a hot topic among fans, but he explained to Sports Illustrated that he was actually sleeping as the WrestleMania 40 main event was taking place.

“I was asleep in Japan when that was going on. When I woke up, I had these messages saying, ‘I thought you were coming out!’ And I was like, ‘Coming out where?’ It’s cool that people thought it was me. But I was asleep.”

Even though he wasn’t part of WrestleMania 40, Jon Moxley took a moment to praise his Shield brothers, Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins, who both competed in some huge matches on the Grandest Stage of Them All this year.

“What they’ve done, it’s a really cool thing. We were nobodies. We came in with attitudes, and we pretty much said, ‘We’re coming in, f*** you, and we’re taking this s*** over.’ The more time that passes, the more it becomes evident that we did exactly what we said we were going to do.”
