The WWE roster is constantly expanding and it’s become clear over the last few years that the company is in recruitment mode. Now it seems that WWE has signed a former IWGP Heavyweight Champion
PWInsider is reporting that WWE has signed EVIL. There have been rumors regarding his next destination, but according to the report the signing has been confirmed with numerous sources in Japan.
EVIL first debuted with New Japan Pro Wrestling back in 2011 and has won numerous titles throughout his run with the company such as the IWGP Heavyweight Championship, IWGP Intercontinental Championship, NEVER Openweight Championship, IWGP Tag Team Championship and NEVER Openweight 6-Man Tag Team Championship.
The former IWGP Heavyweight Champion has also worked for other promotions such as Ring of Honor and Global Force Wrestling. EVIL is currently engaged to former WWE Women’s World Champion Iyo Sky.
According to the report the expectation in Japan is that he will not be keeping the EVIL ring name. EVIL, real name Takaaki Watanabe, parted ways with New Japan Pro Wrestling back in January.
