Spoiler Update: William Regal announced during Wednesday night’s NXT tapings that the first NXT North American Champion will be crowned at NXT TakeOver: New Orleans during WrestleMania weekend. The first champion will be crowned in a 6 man ladder match at the event.
There are quite a few title belts on the WWE main roster, and it looks like more could be added in the weeks to come. It was recently reported that WWE is looking to introduce Cruiserweight Tag Team Titles for the 205 Live brand, and a photo of the possible design for the belts recently surfaced online.
But the WWE main roster won’t be the only roster getting new title belts, as NXT will reportedly be getting in on the fun as well.
PWInsider is reporting that WWE is currently looking to add another singles championship to the NXT brand. It’s being said that the belt could be named the NXT North American Championship, and plans to introduce the belt could be revealed at the NXT tapings tonight.
The belief is that a match will be set up to crown the first champion at the upcoming NXT TakeOver: New Orleans event.
As of right now the only titles in NXT are the NXT Championship, the NXT Women’s Championship, and the NXT Tag Team Championship.
