WWE premium live events have gone through some major changes over the last decade or so as they’ve migrated from traditional pay-per-view to the WWE Network, and then to Peacock in some areas. Over the years premium live events have also been brand exclusive for periods of time and it looks like WWE may be heading in that direction once again.

The WWE Draft is set to kick off on Friday Night SmackDown this week, and ahead of the big event Triple H introduced wrestling fans to the new WWE World Heavyweight Championship on Monday Night Raw. Triple H confirmed that Raw and SmackDown will have their own champions moving forward and the current plan is for the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion to be crowned at Night of Champions in May.

Now the WRKD Wrestling account is reporting that since the draft was announced WWE has been discussing the idea of holding brand exclusive premium live events for both Raw and SmackDown.

In the past WWE has held brand exclusive premium live events with varying success depending on how seriously the company has taken the roster split. Over the last year or so it doesn’t seem that the roster split has been heavily enforced as Superstars often appear on both brands, but the fact that WWE is considering brand exclusive premium live events seems to indicate that’s going to change. Stay tuned for updates.
