WWE recently reshuffled the deck in the 2020 draft, and when it was all said and done some teams got split up. The New Day have been one of the top acts in WWE for years now, but Xavier Woods & Kofi Kingston were sent to Raw, while Big E remains on SmackDown.
Over the last few months WWE has been pushing Big E as a singles star, and it sounds like fans should most definitely expect the push to continue.
It was noted in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the idea behind breaking up The New Day is to get Big E away from the group so they can make him more serious for a singles push.
Big E is expected to get a major singles push, which was talked about weeks ago, and has already started.
Prior to joining The New Day Big E was a much more stoic and serious character, but over the last few years he’s been given the opportunity to show his comedic side, so it will be interesting to see where he goes from here.
