The WWE wellness policy has been a hot topic recently as it’s been reported that Matt Riddle was written off TV and sent to rehab after failing a drug test. In the past WWE has suspended talents for 30 days for the first strike, 60 days for the second strike, and typically talents are fired if there’s a third strike.

However, it seems that WWE has amended their policy when it comes to firing talent. Dave Meltzer recently commented on the change on the Wrestling Observer message board and he noted that WWE changed their stance on firing people over wellness policy violations because there are key people who have two violations, and there’s an ongoing wrestling war.

“They’ve changed that rule. It’s because a couple of key people have had two suspensions and we’re in a wrestling war. Plus somebody with two could intentionally fail a test to get out of their contract.”

There’s been speculation that Matt Riddle was sent to rehab but neither WWE nor Riddle have confirmed that. Recently Riddle took to Twitter to share the following update on his status:

“I’ve been working a lot on myself lately and have been saying no and setting boundaries for the first time ever and certain people aren’t happy about it, but I couldn’t be healthier or happier.
Thank you for all the support 🤙”

Stay tuned for updates.
