aj styles

WWE’s Smackdown brand was at the Nutter Center in Dayton, Ohio last night and we have full results from a fan in attendance. The advertised main event for the show was Dean Ambrose vs AJ Styles in a “Dayton Sreet Fight” with James Ellsworth as timekeeper. Although the event did have some last minute tweaks, it was still said to be a great show.

Special thanks to Chris “Bizcuit” Corwin (@BizcuitMan) for these results. Bizcuit is a stand-up comedian from the Dayton area and you can check him out on Twitter by clicking here.

The floor seats were almost totally full and Bizcuit reports that the arena was pretty much at capacity all around. He says that they had a much better crowd last night compared to the previous time WWE was in Dayton for a house show.

Match Results and Notes:

-Rhyno and Heath Slater won over Breezeango in the opening contest.

-Baron Corbin beat Kalisto in what was said to be a very good contest. After the match, Curt Hawkins ran down to the ring and challenged Kalisto’s lifeless body to a match. As soon as the bell rang Kalisto rolled Hawkins up in a small package and won, thus getting his heat back in about 4 seconds. Bizcuit notes that it took Hawkins longer to get to the ring than it did for him to lose.

-Mojo Rawley tagged with Jack Swagger and went over the Vaudevillians.

-American Alpha beat the Ascension and The Wyatt Family (Luke and Bray, Orton was not present) in a triple threat tag match. Bizcuit reports that Harper had a funny bit before the match started where he played with the crowd posing like Hulk Hogan for a minite to mock the Ascension. Harper also appeared as though he was trying to throw a t-shirt to a kid in the front row. Reports are that it looked like WWE might have been trying to show a softer side to Luke Harper during the match. The thought in the crowd was that WWE might possibly be testing Harper out for a face-turn. American Alpha had an amazing showing and reportedly blew the crowd away.

– Becky Lynch and Naomi defeated Carmella and Alexa Bliss. Although James Ellsworth was advertised as timekeeper for the main event, he ended up accompanying Carmella to the ring. The two skipped down the entrance ramp while holding hands. Bizcuit reports that Carmella and Ellsworth were highly entertaining and they seemed to be making it work. Alexa Bliss still had a ton of heat on her in spite of the fact that she was performing in her home state as champion.

– Miz defeated Apollo Crews in what was said to be a really close match. Reports are that Miz barely went over in this one during the last moments. Maryse interfered and Miz ended up pulling out the win. Yesterday was Maryse’s legit birthday, therefore before the match started Miz made the announcer sing “happy birthday” to his wife. The Miz’s promo was said to be on fire and the crowd hated the Cleveland native.

– The final match of the night featured Dean Ambrose defeating AJ Styles in a match for the Intercontinental Title. Dean was said to be extremely over as the representative Ohio-native in the match. Dean won clean over Styles and the crowd went home happy.

Once again, thanks so much to @BizcuitMan for the detailed report.
