Sooner or later every wrestler has to hang up the boots and retire from in ring competition. Even though some wrestlers and former WWE stars would love to keep going forever, the human body has a habit of deteriorating as we get older, so sooner or later it becomes physically impossible.
One wrestler who has tried in the past to retire is WWE Hall of Famer Terry Funk but he just can’t seem to do it. It’s been a while since Funk has appeared at a wrestling event after a health related issue forced him to leave a House of Hardcore show a few months ago, but he will be returning to the ring soon at the age of 73.
PWInsider reports that Terry Funk is being advertised for Big Time Wrestling events in Raleigh, NC, and Charleston, SC, in September. The WWE Hall of Famer is set to team up with the Rock ‘n’ Roll Express to take on the team of Jerry Lawler, Doug Gilbert and Brian Christopher. For anyone who is wondering, it’s being reported that current GFW Champion Alberto El Patron is still suspended from the company.
PWInsider reached out to Global Force Wrestling for comments on the Alberto situation, as well as the situation with The Hardys, and the company responded with the following: “We have no comment on the Alberto or trademark situations.”
